A Wonderful Quote: Don’t Waste Time

Don't waste time

I just finished a memoir called Unforgettable, by Scott Simon, which details his last days with his dying mother. He includes the life lessons she taught him and, along with many others, this one grabbed me: “Don’t waste time trying to figure out how to avoid doing something good.”

I had not heard of Scott Simon before reading this book, but perhaps you have. He is an award-winning journalist and the host of a popular program on National Public Radio (NPR).

I enjoyed his writing style so much that I must now read all of his books. Next up: Jackie Robinson and the Integration of Baseball. Since the Dodgers didn’t make it to the championships this year, at least I can read about a time when they were doing something right! 🙂

    • Yes, he shares so much of it as he tells stories of her very “colorful” life. You’d enjoy the book for that as you think about Mary doing the same for you — though I know that Mary’s life was “colorful” in a whole different way, I’m glad to say!
